Julian Harris, holding out the fast finishing Joel Donnar, scored his second victory in the Caruana 8km Classic at Woodlands Park on Sunday. Julian had six seconds to spare and in doing so continued with a consistent series of runs in the long established event. Julian has sandwiched third and fourth place finishes in between his wins in 2015 and 2018. Sunday’s win comes on the back of some very good runs with Athletics Victoria and his last start second in the Rendina 8km at Warringal Park. As a mark of Julian’s solid improvement, Sunday’s time of 29:49 was over four minutes faster than his 2015 time.

Joel Donnar, clocking the fastest time of 26:25 from his back mark, is in career best form and looks a likely winner in the near future. Ash Cowan ran a solid race to finish in third place with Irene James the first female home in fourth place. Brigette Humphrey was the fastest of the girls in 30:52. Louis Commins, having his first VCCL run won the novice award

This Saturday the VCCL have entered teams in the Athletics Victoria 10km teams event at Bundoora Park. We hope to be able to field teams in division 4, division 7 and a female team.
