Everyone works hard to get sponsors for races.It is embarassing for officials and sponsors when someone is called to except prize money and/or sash and the winner is not there.I think it is just good manners to either tender an appology to The President if due to committments you are unable to stay.I would also be nice if you could ask someone to accept this on your behalf.Best option stay and support the social club they support all runners with any profit they make by sponsoring races etc."Be part of our club not just a runner"
