The Victorian Cross Country League would like to welcome you to our club for our 84th season.
The season opens with the Fred Grubb & Robert Charlton Memorial Sealed 6.5km event, this year held at Westerfolds Park on Sunday April 17th and concludes with the President’s Handicap, also at Westerfolds Park, on Sunday September 11th.
The VCCL races most Sundays over a variety of surfaces and distances, competing for trophies, sashes and prize money. We cater for all ages and have a handicap system which gives all competitors a winning chance. Those not wishing to register are welcome to compete as fun runners. The VCCL social club host a barbecue with refreshments after each event.
This season the VCCL committee have made many changes to the year’s activities:
- The season will consist of sixteen races, down from nineteen in 2015.
- Prize money will be paid down to fifteenth in all races.
- An increase in prize money for the majority of events.
- Equal prize money for fastest males and fastest females.
- A Junior cross country event will be trialled during the season.
- The final event, the Presidents handicap, will be a 3km event.
- The annual presentation night will not be held in 2016.
- Sashes and trophies will be presented after each event.
- Championship and aggregate sashes and trophies will be presented after the final event.
- The club will conduct more sealed handicap events.
- Entry fee for individual events is now $20 per race.
- There will be five rest weekends throughout the winter season.
The VCCL is pleased to offer free registration to new members. Registration is $70 for returning members. The weekly entry fee is $20 or you can pay the bulk entry rate of $150 which covers the entire season. A VCCL club singlet which costs $40 is compulsory for all members. Discount rate for those under 21 years of age.
