Cody Williamson, with a run of 22:32, scorched around the Lysterfield 6.5km to record the fastest time and collect the first prize of $400. Cody led all the way and had a fifty second gap over Josh Nolan, the second fastest. When times were readjusted for handicaps Cody still has a sixteen second break on Gary Hall and a further twenty seconds over Fraser Murray. Williamson, a proven athlete on the Victorian Athlete League circuit, has competed with the VCCL for the last two seasons after several seasons with Bendigo. Cody’s win came in a timely fashion as he is soon to travel for an extended period overseas. Long time member Tony Moran continued his consistent form with fourth place trailed in by Josh Nolan and Hugo Sarpa. Corina Kapusta finished in the top ten and continued her run of fastest female times with her time of 26:23. Adamo Triani was the top novice runner with a handy run of 27:05.
Many thanks to Jo and David Page and AB Phillips for their continued support of this event. This Sunday the VCCL once again welcome the Bendigo Athletic Club to Woodlands Park for the Caruana 8km Classic. The handicap event starts at 11am.
