Gary Enters Hall of Fame

By Brian Marantelli 9 June 2016

Gary Hall ran to the line solidly over the last kilometre at Woodlands to capture his first Victorian Cross Country League win on Sunday. The Caruana 8km Classic, the twenty first in the series and with $1000 to the winner, was keenly contested with Hall taking the lead in the concluding stages and then holding on to win by ten seconds. Gary, in his third season and contesting his twentieth race, has managed eleven top ten finishes in his time with the Club.

He chased down Andrew Lane, last season’s aggregate winner, with Julian Harris running to the line hard to take third place. Julian was last year’s winner of the event and was only twenty seconds from making it back to back wins. The very consistent Tony Moran finished fourth as he did the previous week. Next in was a close battle with Adina Morrow just holding out Janine McKerron. Josh Nolan was seventh across the line and recorded the fastest time of the day with a run of 26:45.Next in was Anthony Glenning, grabbing his first top ten in twenty starts. Fraser Murray and Duncan Whitford closed out the top ten finishes.

This Sunday is a day off for the VCCL but on Sunday 19th we travel to Westgate Park for a sealed 5km handicap.
