Brigitte Produces Best

By Brian Marantelli 28 July 2016

Brigitte Seeley recorded her third Victorian Cross Country League victory on Sunday at Braeside Park when she produced her best ever 10km time of 38:31. The event combined with the Victorian Masters and Victorian Business Runners is an annual event in honour of past club stalwart Eric Greaves. Brigitte raced Corina Kapusta for most of the 10km in the sealed handicap before racing clear of Corina over the later stages, giving her not only the win but the fastest female award. Brigitte has shown consistent improvement with the VCCL and is gradually working her way back in the handicaps. Her two previous wins were at Warringal Park (2014) and Westgate Park (2015).

Tony Moran made Sunday’s second his third runner up in his last four appearances. Moran finished twenty seven seconds behind the winner and twenty second to the good of the improving Olivia Findlay. Michael Marantelli recorded the overall fastest time with a speedy run of 33:02. Adamo Triani and Peter Lockyer were the winner’s of the novice awards.

This Sunday July 31st the VCCL head to Norton’s Park Wantirna South for the 6.5km Handicap with a 10am start.

On Sunday August 7th Caulfield Grammar will be running with the VCCL as fun runners. The Club will need helpers for this event and any marshalling assistance will be greatly appreciated.
