Lawson and Hall in VCCL Firsts

Corey Lawson and Gary Hall created history for the Victorian Cross Country League by winning VCCL club events in combined Athletics Victoria road races. This season the VCCL entered athletics into the 10km road race at Albert Park Lake and the 15km event around Lake Wendouree.
On July 16th Corey ran 35:03 to defeat Daniel Lawlor by seventeen seconds on a very chilly Sunday morning. Daniel in finishing second produced his career best VCCL run of 34:25. Ian Cayzer (35:51) was third on adjusted handicaps just ahead of Adamo Triani. Fastest overall was Mitchell Cashion with a classy time of 31:22, fastest of the women was Brigitte Seeley (38:04).
Last Saturday afternoon runners braved very windy conditions to contest the 15km at Ballarat where Gary Hall ran a very solid 57:54 to deny Corey Lawson back to back wins. Corey’s time of 54:57 was the fastest of the day amongst the VCCL athletes. Sean Quilty was third with Marcus Boxall in fourth place. Brigitte Seeley was once again the fastest female with her run of 59:48.
This Sunday the VCCL conduct the 19th Annual Eric Greaves 10km sealed handicap at Braeside Park with a 10am start.
