Adina Morrow, winner of 2019 Jells Park Handicap

A week after starting the season at Jells Park with the relays, the Victorian Cross Country League returned to Jells for the first of our Club events. Adina Morrow won the 6.5km out and back course by a clear margin of thirty seconds. Adina followed up her excellent third the previous week to defeat Carl Kennedy with a further eight seconds to Matt Grant. The Jells Park win was Adina’s fourth VCCL victory, two previously over 6.5km as well as a tough Woodlands 10km win. Fastest time of the day went to Matt Grant (22:09) with Corina Kapusta (25:10) the fastest of the girls.

This Saturday interested club members can compete in a handicap event at any parkrun venue. VCCL members can run anywhere in Australia but must nominate VCCL as their club.

The following Sunday (26th May) is the Rendina Family Classic at Warringal Park, this season over 5km. Start time is 10am.

The VCCL will once again be competing with Athletics Victoria on June 1st at St Anne’s Winery, Myrniong. Athletes compete and then are seeded into the respective VCCL divisions based on finishing times. We hope to field teams in Divisions, Open 3, 6, 7, over 40s and Women’s.
