Adina Morrow returned from her overseas holiday and immediately started the fund for her next trip when she ventured to Mernda on 17th August to win race sixteen on the VCCL calendar. The event, a 5km parkrun, was her fifth win with The Victorian Cross Country League but her first in the sealed parkrun series. Aside from her many wins Adina has also been a member of two VCCL club relay challenge events. Adina’s winning margin was nine seconds from the ever consistent Irene James with Shane Thiele in third place.

Luke Critchley, relatively new to the VCCL, captured his first VCCL victory with a solid win over the difficult 6.5km course at Yarra Bend last Sunday. Luke first joined the club in 2016 for two runs, missed the 2017 and 2018 seasons, but has produced a very consistent season this winter resulting in a win at his eleventh race start. Luke also competes with the VCCL in the Athletics Victoria cross country events. Luke’s win resulted in Tony Moran being relegated to second place, his fifth for the year. Irene James was third across the line.

Race fifteen, the Cruden Park 12k, a race combined with Athletics Victoria was unfortunately cancelled due to the weather.

This Saturday the calendar returns to the parkrun format with the following week the AV combined event at Burnley. The Burnley event is the half marathon, run from Kevin Bartlett Reserve with an 8am start time, Sunday September 8th.
