Season 2023

By Brian Marantelli 26 March 2023

Hello VCCL members and supporters,

The VCCL winter season is fast approaching and registrations will shortly be open on the website. Could all members, new and old please register on the website www.vccl.org.au/join as due to the COVID interrupted seasons many details are now outdated. VCCL registration is $50 or free to first time VCCL members. A VCCL singlet ($40) is compulsory for all Athletics Victoria (AV), VCCL and parkrun (to be eligible for prizemoney) events.

The season will start on April 15th with a parkrun event, followed by the Athletics Victoria, Jells Park relays on April 22nd. The VCCL will compete in the 10 round AV season and conduct parkrun handicap events on the vacant Saturdays. There will also be a 5km club sealed handicap at Westgate Park on September 10th. Please register for the AV season with the VCCL through the club finder tab on the AV website or via this link www.revolutionise.com.au/vccl/registration

To help offset the cost of the AV Open membership ($180) and additional race fees the VCCL will be refunding its members money as they compete through the AV season. Members will receive a $100 refund after competing in four AV events and an additional $50 after their sixth AV event.

The VCCL will be entering teams in open, women’s and veteran categories. It is important the club knows the number of teams required, so early registration is vital. To assist the club with the registration process please notify myself (vccl@vccl.org.au) or Michael Marantelli (mmarantelli87@hotmail.com) of your AV running plans for the upcoming season.

In other news, the club is saddened to hear, Ray O’Connor, a great competitor with the club for many years, passed away recently.

Jim McLure, a long time competitor, life member and past president, passed away on Friday March 24th. Our thoughts are with Janet and the McLure family.

Regards,
Brian Marantelli
