Lisa And David Continue Family Feud
By Brian Marantelli 10 June 2012

Lisa Roberts and David Girolamo returned to Birds Land on the Queen’s Birthday weekend to repeat their victory from the 2011 Family Feud. In 2011 David led the team to the win by winning the sealed 5km handicap with Lisa finishing in the top ten. This year, it was Lisa who won the race with David finishing in the top ten. Lisa and David regularly travel from South Australia to compete with the VCCL. The O’Brien family, with Wesley and Phillip were runners up in the family feud, with Mark and Lisa Andrews finishing third.
In the sealed handicap Lisa Roberts was able to maintain her excellent recent form to defeat Gary Blake by twenty three seconds, whilst Tony Rendina was a further nine seconds away in third place. Lisa has improved consistently in her three seasons with the Victorian Cross Country League and Saturday’s win was her third with the club. Gary Blake’s second place comes after his recent win at Warringal Park and he travels to Bendigo with a great opportunity to win the Eaglehawk to Bendigo classic. This year Tony Rendina has gradually worked his way up the finishing order and he also looks a winning chance at Bendigo. Lisa Andrews having her first run for the year finished fifth, her best placing with the club. Another to get amongst the placings was Janine McKerron who finished tenth, her best finish since winning this event in 2009. Phillip O’Brien recorded the fastest time of 16.19 and also finished in the top ten.
This week the Victorian Cross Country League ventures to the country for the Eaglehawk to Bendigo road race with a twelve noon start.
