Welcome To Season 2013

By Brian Marantelli 6 February 2013

The Victorian Cross Country League would like to welcome you to our club for our 81st season.

The season opens with the Fred Grubb and Robert Charlton Memorial sealed 6.5km race at Strathmore on Sunday, 14th April and concludes with the President‘s Handicap at Westerfolds Park on Sunday, 15th September.

In all, the calendar will consist of twenty events and includes the relay team event. The VCCL race most weekends from April through to September over a variety of surfaces and distances competing for trophies, sashes and prize money. We cater for all ages, and have a handicap system which gives all competitors a winning chance. Those not wishing to register are welcome to run as fun runners. The VCCL Social Club hosts a barbecue and refreshments after each event.

Highlights Of The Season

• The 48th running of the Norm Charles Handicap 10km at Lysterfield Park in September with a prize pool of $2,500.
• The Eaglehawk to Bendigo 6.4km road race in June, prize money $2500
• The second running of the Kyneton Estate Ridge Winery 6.5km, racing through the Blackhill Reserve before returning to the winery for lunch.
• The 18th Caruana Classic 8km at Woodland’s Park Greenvale, prize money $1800

Registration

The VCCL is pleased to offer free registration to new members. The weekly entry fee is $15 or you can pay the bulk entry rate of $150 which covers the entire season. A VCCL singlet which costs $40 is compulsory for all members. This season all members will receive a cap as part of their registration.

Registration can be completed online at www.vccl.org.au/join or sent through the post after downloading the membership form. This season the VCCL will not be producing the entry booklet in hard copy – you will still be able to access the usual information on our website. If required, entry forms will be available on race day.

We look forward to seeing you this season.
