It’s Tony ‘Strath’ Moran

By David Page 15 April 2013

A well supported opening race of the 2013 VCCL season saw club stalwart Tony Moran running a very strong race to pick up a 10 second win in the sealed event. Wayne James showed that the VAL season was just preparation for Cross Country with a clear second with Jim Berrington using his intimate course knowledge bursting back into form with a strong third. David Spence (22:08) and Corina Kapusta (26:03) continued on from their impressive Stawell runs to record the fastest Male and Female times respectively.

Plenty of new runners and some old returning runners greeted the starter (once he found a cap for the pistol) and they were challenged by a surprisingly testing course and very warm conditions. Congratulations for John Mackay, Janine McKerron, Andrew Soltys, and last year’s Norm Charles winner Marcus Boxall on attaining 50 runs for the club.

We encourage those who didn’t register at Strathmore to come along next week to Karkarook Park, Oakleigh for a flat and fast 5km at the more usual time of 10:00am. The online system of registration is working a treat and for those who are a bit unsure Dennis would be happy to talk you through the more technical aspects.
